The movie 300

The movie ‘300’ portrayed well the strong brave of Spartan and their pure reason, but to make strong Spartan, Persian had to be barbarians. It made the government and
people of Iran angry, and it even raised a signature-seeking campaign in Iran. In the movie, Persian was used as tool for strong Spartan and a smart king Leonidas. They were described as monsters, and their cultures were portrayed as the lower Oriental civilization. Here are three strong distortions made whole the world misunderstand. First, in the movie most of the Persian was black people, and especially their King Xerxes was described as a gay. Second, when Immortals, the strongest army in Persian, put off their mask, they was leprous and looked like monsters. Third, Persian portrayed as foolish men. In the movie, they strove hard to win the war by fair means or foul. They made their magicians, elephants, rhinoceros go to the front. I’m sure it made theater audiences scoffed at Persian. I think this movie delivered wrong message to the world, as it is based on black and white logic and Western superiority. This is because the movie is enough to make the people who don’t have correct information of Iran misunderstand it. Then why did U.S.A. damage the image of Iran? Through the influence of the Hollywood movies, U.S.A. has incited the world to propagandize the Western superiority. I think it is one of the examples, as the movie is closely related with the tension between Iran and U.S.A.
